How To Stay Mentally and Physically Active Indoors

Tis’ the season

In most parts of the United States, it’s that time of the year where it’s typically colder and people are indoors in their living spaces more than usual. Depending on a lot of different variables, this may or may not be a good thing for you. Some people may be feeling overwhelmed while others may be bored our of their minds! Wherever you are on that spectrum, here are some activities to help you stay mentally and physically active while indoors. You’ll maximize your time, feel more at peace, and feel a rewarding sense of accomplishment:

-Writing/Journaling Not sure what to write about? There are millions of writing prompts online so go to your favorite search engine and get to it!

-Learn an Instrument If self-teaching is not your strength, take lessons online or explore the range of guided apps that are available.

-Clean, Organize, and Declutter Watch your stress levels plummet- seriously!

-Read physical book, kindle, audible—we’ve got a lot of options nowadays :)

-Making Your Version of a Vision Board Whether you’re more into pictures or if you’re a motivational quotes type of person, create something and put it in your line of sight so you can see it each and every day.

-Take a Personality Test & Learn About the Enneagram https://www.truity.com/test/enneagram-personality-test

-Do a Crossword or play Wordle: The NY Times has a great mini crossword each day too :)

-Chess: Search for the top rated app in the app store and get to playing!

-Scrapbook: Yes it’s old school, but sometimes we need to work with our hands.

-3D Printing: This might be a little more expensive at first, but certainly a creative endeavor that is challenging and fulfilling.

-Find/Create a House or Living Space Project: Go to Pinterest for Inspiration!

-Paint, Draw, and Explore other artistic mediums: Get creative!

-Play Online Games with Friends: https://www.jackboxgames.com/

-Start a blog on a topic your passionate about.

-Brainstorm potential ideas in line with your goals.

-Participate in a dance class on YouTube.

-Write down Positive Affirmations.

These are just a few of the many things you can do to stay active indoors. Whatever you decide to do, make sure you enjoy it! And if you have to do something you’re not crazy about (but it still needs to get done), try pairing it with something you do like to do. For example, folding laundry while listening to a podcast or fixing odd ends around in your living space while listening to music. Not only will the time go by faster, but it will make your experience much more pleasant.
