How to Take An Effective Mental Health Day

Do Something For You.

So many of us struggle to find a time to take a mental health day and sometimes, when we do eventually take that day, we end up working (argh?!). Here are a few helpful tips to make your mental health day everything you needed and more:

Establish boundaries: Whether that means leaving your phone in a certain area of your living space or only using your computer an hour that day, establish clear boundaries with yourself (and let others know if necessary) to prevent worry and allow more room for what you need.

Slow Down: Remember, you are only one person and can only do one thing at a time. Choose one task to do at a time and be careful not to overload yourself. This is your mental health day and it should be giving you energy, rather than taking it away!

Set Yourself Up for Less Stress: This day might be a day you need to change your sheets, declutter, or take time to make a home cooked meal. Find what works for you and you’ll be setting yourself up for a lot less stress (which = success!)
